Wachale Cineteca is a cine club. We watch films, t.v. shows, experimental videos, and other media to help us understand colonialism. By looking at it on screen together, we are better able to see how it exists in our everyday lives.

watch and talk format

We start by introducing the films. After the movies, we open up for conversation. We can talk about important takeaways from the films, geek out about cinematic form, and bring up anything we didn’t like.

The fourth Saturday of every month from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

kids

Most films are adult-focused, but children are welcome if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. We will note movie ratings for films if they have been rated, but not all films are rated by the MPAA. In those instances, they will be marked NR (not rated). Movie trailers will be provided in advance; we encourage parents to use the film ratings, trailers, and independent research to determine whether a screening is appropriate for their child.

Wachale Cineteca does not charge for access to screenings. There is an optional suggested $5 donation to the venue at each screening, but members will not be turned away for lack of funds. We use the honor system for donations.
